The Classical Choir Society -
Herning Korforening was founded back in 1941 – and is still going strong! We are a mixed choir singing a classical repertoire from a period starting from the sixteenth century up to contemporary music. Our texts are in Danish, Latin, English and German. We are about 25 singers –our daily musical leader is Søren Bormann, 30 years old, candidate of musicology and organ player at Churches in Kjellerup. He teaches at high schools in Aarhus and Vejle and conducts another choir in Aarhus, too.
The choir is developing towards singing in the spring semester every second year with one or two other choirs.
In this period, until autumn 2021, we are in a pilot project with a network organization called “Herning Synger” (Herning Sings) and The Jutland School of Singing. In this project, we are making projects for 7-11 weeks at a time with one or two final concerts. At the moment we are making a summer project called, “The grass is smelling lightly green” and have concerts on the 13th of May in a church and the 3rd of June at the local Herningsholm Museum.
